The same day I got my news my husband Paul got a call that his mom was in the hospital.
He drove 7 hours down to Florida and is with his family right now.
They think his mom is out of the worse of it.. She had an aneurysm, but it has stopped bleeding, so they are waiting for an MRI to see what is going on.
She is in a medically induced coma, but was squeezing hands and such so they start to take her out of it soon.
My mom and brother are going to the funeral home today to figure things out, and they will call me back to explain the arrangements.
So... uh,. that is about it for now.

I recently threw out a couple "New Year's resolutions" (or just my "to do" list...call it what you want) off the top of my head but I want to refine them and add some more.

I have an Amazon.com / Chase Bank / Visa credit card that promises 1% back on all purchases and 3% back on Amazon.com purchases. This was great - they'd send me a $25 Amazon.com certificate in the mail automatically.
Now they've gone the way of every other shitty rebate system - They've actually gone out of their way to make your rewards HARDER to obtain, in the hopes you'll forget to bother obtaining them. You have to sign on to your account, check your balance, manually add shit to a cart and then wait X-Y weeks for your coupons to arrive in the mail. If you want you can pay them $10 for an express delivery.
All of this is for a gift certificate code - a few letters and numbers - that I will be entering into an online website. So even if I have to manually ask for my rewards now, why can't they just email it to me or, god forbid, just show the code right there on the website? Why go through all this extra work and time and trees?
That is all!

So i think I may have gotten into 2 shows but i dont have a car and getting to and from rehearsals is going to be very hard. I LOVE doing this but i cant figure out a wayto get to and from the theater if I cant figure out something I will be devastated. Just one more misery knotch in my belt.

So, I'm reading this book at the mo' called "Snoop" and it's about the things you can tell about people by checking out their stuff. It's about snooping, really, which is a guilty pleasure of mine. Don't let me near your medicine cabinets, that's all I'm saying.
Anyway, in this book is a mention of a guy named Arthur Aron who came up with these thirty-six questions which are designed to get people talking, getting them to know more about one another. The book supplies one with a sample of said questions and they happen to be rather interesting, as do the answers to them.
Unfortunately I have not been able to find the rest of the questions either online or anywhere else and I would like to. They're genuinely interesting. Anywho, I answered the ones in the book, and thought I would post them. If you want to, flist, you can answer them yourselves :)

Greetings from me and Aegis at the Subway near MAGFest in Alexandria, VA!
This was more or less a last minute trip and we couldn't have been less prepared. (Aegis argues we could have if we simply showed up here with no bags and no idea we were going.)
film2edit has been exceptionally kind and helpful, along with her friends Klavi and Hobbes, in going out of their way to help us find a place to sleep.
Toracub and Seven and Kasi Frost are all also here, and all on security. Tora says there are even more furs around too. Why do I care? Because furries are my BREAD AND BUTTER. Or something. Coherent thoughts are not my main skill pepperoni.
We are having a blast. There was a neat ChipTunes concert last night I really got into, and the gigantic ass console room has an authentic, fully functioning Atari 2600!! And we met this guy demoing an NES-style version of Left 4 Dead which should be out in a couple days online for free. It's pretty damn cool. We'll probably be back home tonight since we both work Sunday.
Sorry if I was being mopey or emo at the New Year's Furry Ball. There were a couple experiences I could have gone without...but it is not really anybody's fault. There were definitely some very fun and memorable moments like when me and Pyrophin and Clementine? And someone else? Were all just dancing in the bar to a great song which I cannot even remember anymore. O_O Pyro which song was it!? It came on right after that "sciencey" one.
So what's everyone's New Year's resolutions? I guess mine are to try and remember people's names better, and to make more fursuit videos. :) oh, and finish all the web projects I started in 09 and 08!

Job / Independence : establish stable income and furnish living quarters separate from family's current situation.
Music : engage in more open mic night / live performances , find musicians and attempt re-entry into music career
Self: conduct self in more aesthetically pleasing manners, involving the calculated use of fashion and or other visual elements. Pursue relationship if circumstances allow.
Friends - seek new friends or repair worn out friendships, look past outdated friendships
Furry / Diapers / Sissy Dress /Furry Con Thingy - because I brought this up in a skype call and totally throws off the calculated manner of this post. :p

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! SEE YOU IN 2010!

What a royally fucking retarded year to have been alive in.
For the last couple of years I've managed to reserve NYE for myself.
In my day-to-day life, like a lot of other people, I wind up doing a buttload of stuff I don't particularly want to do, so I've chosen NYE to just cloister myself away here in interweb land, and ring in the new year digitally.
I know it sounds a little sad, but to be honest, I rather enjoy it. No more waking up on January first hung over to the shithouse. No more having to kiss someone you don't really want to at midnight (or that's the way it's been for the last few years...What with my love life being what it is...).
Anyway...
Went shopping the day after Boxing Day and procured myself a few new books (foolishly after I ordered, like, six from Amazon the night before, lol), and a new fountain pen which I am absolutely in love with.
I got my first fountain pen for my birthday and it's great, a gift from my mad aunts. It's gold plated, a Sheaffer and very nice. And it really made me see how glorious those pens are - a little slice of decadence, really. So I was in the city a couple of weeks ago looking in a favourite shop called Pen Ultimate (says volumes) and tested, seriously, ten pens. I was in there for about an hour and left eventually with the promise of returning and buying a particular pen.
So, the other day, I did indeed return and the guy remembered me (always nice) and showed me the pen I sort of decided on last time. It's a Sailor (great brand), black resin, gold detailing and a 14 carat nib. So, $270 later, I got a brand new fountain pen. Yes, it's terribly over the top. Sure, it's a little too-too. For sure, my hand writing is nothing short of appalling. But - and it's a big but - it's so nice to write in one's journal with a fountain pen. And besides, this one's lighter than my last one :P So ner.
Can't wait until my books come in from Amazon....If only I could remember which books I ordered. That's what you get from a shopping high, lol. If people insist on giving me gift cards (of which there were a few), then it must be expected that there'd be some kind of frenzy.
And frenzy there was.
P.S. I saw Sherlock Holmes yesterday. I'm not a huge Robert Downey Jr. fan and I wish Jude Law a horrid and fiery death, but they played the characters well (even though RDJ isn't tall enough and Watson was too...Actiony...). It was a good buddy movie, there was enough action and humour. I really wanted to hate it, but, alack, no. Quite good.
P.P.S. If anyone's seen the movie, the scene where Sherlock is crawling across the floor after Watson throws open the curtain, the only thing I could think was..."OMG. That's Greg House." But then I remembered that House was based on Holmes. (Holmes/Homes = House. Watson, John = Wilson, James).
Oh, god, what a strange, metaphysical journey 2009 has been. This had to be the possible worst way to experience things from an accomplishment-centric point of view. Spiritually and mentally, the floodgates of expression were annihilated as I underwent an inner journey of seeking peace.
In the latter part of the year, I kicked my dependence on amphetamine medication, which was no longer serving me well. Not that anybody has been able to tell a difference in me on or off of anti-depressants at home, but I struggle on. I am doing a lot more to manually deal with my shortcomings.
Identity really became the goal. A trial and error series of herculean dramas in my life forced me to re-evaluate everything on the largest scale and the most minute of details. However, painful, the things that could not be avoided had to be dealt with.
What will 2010's saga play out like? If 2009 forced me to conquer myself, then the theater of action becomes externalized - oh look out! Pay attention to me, because I'm out for blood! It's go time. It's time to make it happen.
